About NUYOK Program:
Caritas Kotido Diocese is part of a consortium led by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to run a five-year Food for Peace (FFP) USAID funded program called NUYOK to build resilience to shocks, enhance livelihoods and improve food security and nutrition for vulnerable rural families in three districts of Karamoja viz: Abim, Nakapiripirit and Napak – which are home to 406,880 people living in an estimated 58,126 households. Caritas Kotido Diocese through support from CRS will implement the activities of NUYOK Programme in Abim District.

Job Summary: The Youth Coordinator is responsible for youth project activities implementation, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and technical backstopping of youth groups, life skills trainers, literacy trainer and representation with respect to the project youth activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of Youth Enterprise Development activities.
Support Youth activities implementing teams and NUYOK staff to develop monthly, quarterly and yearly detailed program activity implementation plans on youth and young people development.
Ensure timely and high quality delivery of the action phase/livelihoods components of the NUYOK programme related to youth and young people development.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the NUYOK programme team in the implementation of the youth livelihoods action phase.
Collaborate with appropriate service providers on delivery of quality entrepreneurship, youth vocational and technical skills
Facilitate the training, adaptation and appropriate translation of Livelihoods component training materials into easy to learn youth friendly reading and spoken languages. Among others, this will including materials for group enterprise training in agricultural production, market value chain analysis, business planning, business development, business management
Facilitate participatory assessment of services, opportunities and demand in program area (including service providers’ suitability) is conducted timely and properly pursuing the procedures; a list of pre-vetted service providers for each location is prepared and signed off; and shared with Youth to help them focus their pathway mapping and choice of options to enhanced youth entrepreneurship.
Coordinate Youth participation in mapping viable education, vocational training, and apprenticeship / employment opportunity service providers.
Ensure procedures are properly followed among the youth and the pathway panels when selecting and recommending pathway options.
Ensure that youth have selected viable group enterprises and have the materials, business plans and management structures in place; start their chosen enterprise; and intensive training to support implementation and monitoring is provided on a regular basis
Support NUYOK programme team and stakeholders in mobilizing the youth into groups (agricultural production and marketing/business groups, post vocational skills training groups, post apprenticeship and formal education groups etc).
Support NUYOK programme team and stakeholders in developing partnerships with vocational training institutions, agro input dealers, agro loan institutions and potential employers to enable youth secure apprenticeship and employment opportunities
Strengthen network and linkages with financial service providers, micro and small enterprise development agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure youth are engaged in gainful and sustainable wage and self-employment activities.
Providing and supporting a wide range of Business Development Services for marketing of youth groups to facilitate their growth and development.
Link youth agriculture groups to input suppliers, to markets, broker partnerships, facilitating signing of sales agreements/production contracts, extension services and output markets
Any other role as may be assigned by the management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Development Studies, BBA, SWASA and Development Economics from an accredited academic institution
Training in Entrepreneurship will be added advantage
At least two to five years of relevant experience especially working with Youth programmes and related Policy, Advocacy work and social entrepreneurship development.
Experience working in Karamoja and proficiency in Luo language is an added advantage.
Experience working in large scale, complex programs and challenging environments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
Possession of a valid riding permit is a must.
