War Child Canada is an international charity organization that works with war-affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunity and justice. In Uganda, through its Youth and Peace Building Programs, War Child Canada builds refugee and Ugandan youth capacity to live peaceful and productive lives. War Child Canada will now be implementing the USAID funded programme Suluhu: promoting Cross Border Peace Building through Youth Engagement in the refugee settlements of the West Nile region and Kiryandongo. War Child Canada also implements SGBV prevention and response programming, namely the BPRM funded program Safe from the Start.

Job Summary: The Peace Building Manager will be responsible for leading the peacebuilding component of the Suluhu program for South Sudanese refugees and host communities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The incumbent will mentor and oversee two community mobilization officers and two peace building officers
· The job holder should develop work plans and ensure implementation is meeting desired outputs and outcomes.
· Be well versed on youth and peace building methodology and effective modalities for engaging conflict affected youth
· Collect and maintain data relevant to monitoring and evaluating the project and with the assistance of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, analyze and prepare reports on results.
· Develop and maintain strong knowledge management practice.
· Ensure child protection and gender equality are mainstreamed across implementation.
· Perform any other related duties as shall be assigned by War Child Canada Programmes Manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The Peace Building Manager should hold a university degree preferably in peace and conflict studies, law, mediation, community development, psychology, social sciences or a related field.
· A minimum of three years of professional experience working with communities, preferably refugees and youth.
· A year of managerial experience including holding a budget and people leadership.
· This vacancy requires a motivated peace building professional who is experienced in working in hard conditions, distance managing and driving a program to strong results.
· Fluency in a local language relevant to listed field locations and an excellent working knowledge of spoken and written English.
· Computer literacy i.e. working knowledge of Excel, Word and Email applications.
· Broad knowledge and understanding of issues important to young men and women affected by war.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills
