Supervises: Officer, Communications, and Branding

Main Purpose: To oversee and provide leadership in public and media relations, and develop and implement strategies, plans, and programs relating to public and media communication and stakeholder management.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead in the development and implementation of Communication strategies in collaboration with the different Institute Departments and oversee the implementation of the UICT’s Communications and content production policy guidelines.
2. Work with the team to collectively raise the profile of the Institute’s research and academic expertise by proactively sourcing, drafting, and pitching features to national media/specialist sector press and maintaining good stakeholder working relationships.
Oversee the overall news and multimedia relations and serve as public information contact for UICT and ensuring that details of the Institute activities, appointments, press conferences, newsletters, reports, key messages, articles, press releases, radio/ T.V. program coverage, and awards are publicized and communicated appropriately to staff and the wider community.
4. Draft communications articles, annual reports, talking points, and speeches for the Principal and guest speakers.
5. Promoting the Institute and organizing events not limited to graduation ceremonies, exhibitions, and press conferences alongside the use of promotional materials such as brochures, fliers, calendars, plaque and other mementos.
6. Analyze the institute’s brand position and visibility to provide and guide on appropriate unique online identity and marketing strategies.
7. Assist in strategic planning, budgeting, implementation, accountability, and reporting on Communications and International Relations.
8. Supervise Staff, assess performance and identify training needs, and recommends
9. appropriate training.
10. Any other duty assigned to you from time to time.

Person Specifications A. Academic and Professional Qualifications

(i) A relevant Master’s Degree from a reputable institution.
(ii) An Honors degree from a recognized institution in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication and Public relations, Marketing, Communication, Journalism, or international relations and any other relevant discipline
(iii) Post-Graduate qualification in Journalism, Media studies, Film studies, Videography, Photography, Public Relations, Customer Care, Publishing, Information Science, Librarianship, or Archival science. B. Experience
Six (6) years of work experience in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, or international relations and any other relevant discipline in a reputable organization, three (3) of which must be at a supervisory level.
